With the Routeburn track completed I spent a day in Queenstown, wandering around and enjoying a delicious lunch at Devil Burger. I’d had numerous recommendations to eat at a place called Fergburger, but the massive queue and some local knowledge from the driver of the bus back into town convinced me to try the alternative. Can’t say I was disappointed.
After a short time in Queenstown I moved on to Lake Tekapo, a beautiful body of water in the middle of arid plains between Queenstown and Christchurch. This is a great location to relax, and I took a short walk up the nearby Mount St John to get a better view over the town and lake.
From there it was another long bus ride to Christchurch and the flight out of New Zealand. Sad to be leaving, but also looking forward to a quiet month to sort my life out a bit after travelling for a few months.
